Addendum No. 2 to "Obama's Own Words"

Well, I have received "The Audacity of Hope" (original edition); and as promised, here is the actual "Muslim" quote (from Page 261):

"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern.  In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging.  They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with (them) should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."  The word "Muslims" was obviously inferrerd and substituted in the original E-mail that was circulated containing this "quote".  This is understandable (I think) but  not acceptable, especially to a purist and absolutist, which I am when it comes to responsible journalism (amateur or not).  I have not yet received the other book; but from tentative Internet research, I believe all the other quotes were given correctly.  Again, I will report back if I find that not to be the case.

So does any of this mean that I plan to run out and vote for Obama now?  Absolutely not!!  First of all, when America was doing her best to handle the Japanese situation appropriately during WWII (remember Pearl Harbor???), Obama was just a forethought in his father's loins in Africa.  It's easy to cavalierly second guess one's forebears.  Secondly, his words give me an uneasy feeling concerning his priorities about who the real victims were "in the wake of 9/11".  I mean, he seems to imply that the bodies in the Twin Towers, et al were hardly cold before he ran out to comfort the perpetrators' kin folks!!  I don't know of anyone who hates Muslims just because they're Muslims.  Yet, we are fooling ourselves if we do not recognize and acknowledge the dangers of the age-old conflict that exists because Sarah decided to practice a form of surrogate motherhood instead of waiting for God's promise of a (biological) heir to be fulfilled in HIS time.

The argument about whether the Koran itself is truly jihadist could go on and on.  But isn't that really irrelevant?  Even if (according to conservative estimates) only a very small percentage of Muslims are radical jihadists, the numbers would still run into the millions!  And how many of the radicals are living right here in America?  If we agree with the premise that America was founded as a Christian nation (and especially that it was founded on Judeo-Christian principles); and if we agree with the Biblical admonitions in the book of Genesis concerning Israel, then I think there can be no question that our allegiance first and foremost must be to the founding principles (which are not frightful to peace-loving, God-honoring people) and to the Jews, God's chosen people.  And that brings me back to Obama's SCARY long-term associations, who just seem to love Louis Farrakhan to death!!

Before I close, I'd like to recommend two books that I feel are a must for the library of every concerned American in the unquestionably perilous times in which we live.  The first was orginally published in 1864 and has been out of print for over 100 years.  It can be obtained at www.AmericanVision.org and perhaps other places as well by  now.  The second was published in 1982 and is now out of print.  However, there are approximately 170 used copies on www.amazon.com for one cent each (plus shipping).  It is one of the  most profound books I have ever read (and I hope someone republishes it soon) on helping Christians realize the difference between being "nice" and being naive when it comes to the myriad threats posed against our beloved nation--both from within and without.

Book No. 1 - The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States by Benjanim F. Morris.
Book No. 2 - A Time for Anger:  The Myth of Neutrality by Franky Schaeffer (son of Francis).

(While I was in the process of writing this, I received an E-mail from the owners of this web site promoting Andrew McCarthy's book, Willful Blindness:  A Memoir of the Jihad.  This comes in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to give captured terrorists more rights than American citizens have in American courts--a decision with which, as we all know by now, Barack Obama agrees!)
